The future
The gym and studio project are part of a major expansion of Duhovka Elementary that began in the summer of 2022 with the addition of an entirely new 2nd floor.
We are building new homerooms for the Middle School and together with them a base for teachers. There will also be a new study room with a large library where children can study, relax, spend their free time, or attend lectures and workshops. Some premises will be returned to the Elementary School again, especially the After-school Center. IT enthusiasts will certainly enjoy the new IT room.
Our dream for the children is to also build a new gym on the roof of which will emerge an airy classroom with adjoining living terraces. The classroom will serve variably as an art studio and an expert laboratory for teaching chemistry, biology, and physics.
The total budgeted cost of construction, including interior fittings, is 108 million CZK, of which the new floor of the building is about 60 million CZK and the new gym with the art studio and terraces will cost 48 million CZK.
Duhovka Elementary is currently provided with funds through a combination of our own resources and pre-negotiated bank financing amounting to 65 million CZK.
We need 43 million CZK to also build the gym.

With the exception of the staircase, the entire extension of the new 2nd floor is designed as a timber building and wood will also be used for the interior furnishings. For the gym, the proportion of renewable materials will be up to 40%. Stone thermal insulation will be used on the facade of the gym and the superstructure.

GREEN ROOFS
Up to 170m² of our roof will be green
A green roof is a significant heat fighter and will help us to alleviate overheating in the building. We will better maintain a comfortable temperature in the interior and also save air conditioning and heating costs. It will also help us improve rainwater management. And the surroundings will benefit too. The green roof absorbs noise, reduces dust and will be pleasant to look at for the residents of the surrounding houses.
SAVING WATER
Up to 95% of the water will be absorbed by our property
Rainwater that falls on our school property no longer runs off uselessly into the sewer. Newly, all rainwater from roofs and paved garden surfaces will go through a retention tank into a soakaway. Water from the retention tank can also be used for watering the garden.
